This pocket calendar would have been perfectly sized for travel. Many Jews in Amsterdam were traders, who needed a simple way to be able to convert Gregorian dates to Hebrew and thus keep track of the Jewish holidays while they were on the road. The image shows the tekufot, or phases of the moon.
