Amongst Karaites, the accurate transmission of the written text of the Torah was paramount. Shown here are the final verses from Deuteronomy, as well as a colophon dated 1390. Included in the colophon is a note that the manuscript was given as a donation to the great Karaite Synagogue in Sulchat (Crimea). Crimea was one of the three major centers of Karaism; the others were Egypt and Lithuania.
