Every Jewish community had its own nuances when it came to prayer.  During the Jewish month of Elul (which precedes the High Holidays), special prayers dealing with repentance, called seliḥot, are commonly said.  In the city of Monticello, in Italy, there was a group of seliḥot which were designated to be said following the afternoon prayers.  This manuscript contains the entire service for the afternoon seliḥot in Monticello.
