Throughout Italy, talented writers would create poems in honor of the marriage ceremony for a friend or relative. The elaborate poems were then read at the wedding itself, for the entertainment of the bride and groom as well as their guests. The poem shown here was written in honor of the wedding of Shelomoh ben Shemuʼel Ḥayyim Lublin and Esther bat Yehoshuʻa ben Tsiyon Hartom, in Casale.
