This half-length portrait of Byron derives from George Sanders' 1807-09 portrait now in the Royal Collection, and is taken from the engraved frontispiece to "Finden's Landscape and Portrait Illustrations of Lord Byron's Life and Works" (London, 1834). The color of his waistcoat and the inside his jacket differ from the original painting.
