Gumby's Culture > Poetry
Scrapbook 144:
"Poetry,"
p. [98]
Gumby's scrapbook on "Poetry" is one of the most personal volumes in the collection, appearing to be more of a vehicle for storing poems that Gumby liked over the years than serving as a presentation piece in the same manner as his volumes on African-American history or culture. (The personal nature of Gumby's love for poetry is also evidenced by the fact that this is one of the largest volumes in the entire collection.) Yet even in this scrapbook, Gumby's tendency to organize his mementos into clear thematic groups is occasionally evident. For example, Gumby collated five poems related to World War I on the page reproduced here.
