Art Young Cartoon Collection

During the first part of the 20th century, many Jewish newspaper cartoonists drew for two audiences: a Yiddish-speaking one and an English-speaking one.  Art Young originally created this cartoon for a Yiddish paper (possibly The Big Stick, to which he was a regular contributor).  In this case, however, Young added English captions to cover the Yiddish ones in order to make it accessible to the English-language readers of his own magazine, Good Morning (1919-1922).
