The Book Undone: Thirty Years of Granary Books

Collaborations

Every published book is a collaboration, but many of Granary’s books depend on a series of relationships orchestrated by Steve Clay. Clay often identifies the people with whom he would like to work before knowing what the project will be, and brings together a group of artists, writers, and artisans who do not know each other and for whom he serves as a patient, knowledgeable hub that pushes them all into new territory. For other artists already working together, Granary is one of very few presses able to convert their project from a one-of-a-kind to a multiple.
