Collaborations > The Burning Babe
Jerome Rothenberg's poems in The Burning Babe nominally treat depictions of the baby Jesus in Italian Renaissance art. Artist Susan Bee often directly illustrates the poem’s imagery (ekphrasis in reverse) and includes in her collages postcards of the paintings mentioned, as well as stickers and drawings of totems and other religious icons. Rothenberg gave Bee free range with the layouts, insisting only that stanzas not be broken up. This book was printed digitally at Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints Ltd. and bound by Judith Ivry in an edition of 41.
