1968: The Global Revolutions

Freedom Struggles: Get Organized! > Freedom Now

Mozelle Thompson’s “Freedom Now” charcoal sketch for the New Leader captures the dynamism of a protest march in a fleeting glimpse of picket signs, hands, arms. Thompson was a pioneering African-American magazine illustrator who also designed numerous book jackets and record covers. Recently, he has begun to be recognized as an important, and previously overlooked, figure in midcentury design.
