The Sporting Life
C.V. Starr was already 46 when, in 1938 he took up skiing. At Mt. Mansfield, near Stowe, Vermont, he invested in improvements, including a new double chair ski-lift on Spruce Peak.
Likewise, he financed double chair ski-lifts in St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria. In this image we see photographer Toni Frissell, Austrian Chancelor Julius Raab and C.V. Starr at the January 1955 dedication of the Schindlerbahn in St. Anton am Arlberg.
