Yiddish Theatre > Theatre of Vilna
The Vilner Troup of Yiddish theatre actors was a hugely influential theatre group, which had many “breakaways” and iterations across the world in the early part of the 20th century. By the onset of World War II, Vilner Troupes or their affliates were found across Eastern and Western Europe, in Africa and Australia, as well as North and South America. This anniversary booklet celebrating 15 years from the troupe’s inception includes a drawing likely created by Yitzhak/Vincent Brauner (born in Lodz, 1887), an artist and Young Yiddish member who was killed in the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944.
