Solo Voice and Choral Music > Jersey Hours
"Jersey Hours," written for solo voice and three harps, was commissioned by Mrs. Paul R. Emmanuel for the Emmanuel Harp Trio. The text is by Donald Dorr, who was Kay's librettist for his operas "Jubilee" and "Frederick Douglass." Written in 1978, it was premiered by the Emmanuel Harp Trio, with Patricia Winsauer, soprano, on January 7, 1979, in a series entitled "Teaneck Artists Perform."
Kay arranged the work so that it can also be performed by solo voice and one harp, or voice and piano.
