The Book Undone: Thirty Years of Granary Books

Typography > Flicker

In this book, graphic designer, book artist, and printer Emily McVarish uses letterpress for texture and pattern as well as to transmit letterforms. The patterns that form the background of these pages are images of the bottom of pieces of type. Against this ground, the colorful letters form clusters as well as both vertical and horizontal lines. Cut-outs create a peek-a-boo across pages, a playfulness underscored by the frequent puns throughout. Writing, design, and printing all by Emily McVarish. Bound by Coriander Reisbord in an edition of 45.
