Jonah was the first of the prophetic books that Martin Luther translated. He released a complete edition of the Prophets in 1532.  Der Prophet Jona is an example of one of Luther’s flugschriften or “flying writings,” ephemeral pamphlets. It was printed sixteen times in 1526 alone.  The woodblock on the cover depicts Jonah at various points in his story.
