1968: The Global Revolutions

Campaign ‘68 > A Nation Mourns its Dead Leaders > The Violent End of Malcolm X

King’s death recalled the assassination of other civil rights leaders, most notably Malcolm X, who had been murdered in 1965 just a few days after delivering a talk at Barnard College – his last public appearance. Within two months of King’s murder, Robert F. Kennedy would be killed at an event celebrating his victory in the California Democratic primary. Options for reform were being destroyed one by one.
