Ulysses Kay: Twentieth Century Composer

"The Rope" for solo dancer and piano was commisioned by Eleanore Goff who gave the premier on January 12, 1947, in Kaufman Auditorium of the 92nd Street YMHA, New York.

Kay revised the work for piano and string orchestra later that year, and retitled it "Ancient Saga."
